Gilding

We provide gilding services, restoration and touch up as well as total re-gilding on damaged beyond repair projects. Water and oil gildingwith different degrees of wear and patinas.

We adapt the clay and the gold leaf color to the period and provenance of the piece. For example the French Italians and German used red clay but there is a variation in the shade of red.

Gilding

We use traditional recipes for our gesso and clay, not the modern already made products. Those are also more compatible with the original surface for a more durable restoration.

The surface can be burnished in some areas to create a shinier effect.

Patinas and wear are chosen on samples.
